One to Watch: Emmanuelle Vaugier

Hometown: Vancouver, British Columbia

You’ve seen her: Giving her Catholic mother a heart attack with a steamy scene with Josh Hartnett in 40 Days and 40 Nights, and all over the WB first as Lex Luthor’s plucky M.D. love interest on Smallville, then getting into catfights with Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton on One Tree Hill.

Parlez-vous Francais? Being born into a French-speaking household certainly has its perks. “Sometimes when joking around with friends, somebody speaks Italian and another speaks Japanese and you start exchanging the bad, evil words in different languages. You get to share your knowledge of sorts!”

Puppy Love: If she weren’t acting, Vaugier would be working for an animal charity, but for now she settles for frequent trips to Runyon Canyon with her two poodles. “Lily is more of the supermodel poodle; she has the long legs and the skinny body and no matter how much I feed her she won’t gain a pound. Isabelle is a little lower to the ground and she’s stocky. She’s like the gymnast.”

Fare enough: Although she’s a “clean” eater who stays away from sauces and oils in favor of complex carbs. Vaugier has one food issue: “I am notorious for eating out like three meals a day. My trainer is always on my ass about that. He’s like, “You wouldn’t be superhuman if you just at home and trained like you do!”
