Canadian actress reminisces about her days in Vancouver

She left Vancouver for theCity of Angels 12 yearsago, but there’s no mistak-ing where actressEmmanuelle Vaugier callshome. “My base is in Vancou-ver; my friends and familyare there,” said Vaugier,who plays Mia on the sit-com Two and a Half Menand Det. Jessica Angell onCSI: NY. “That’s somethingthat you can’t really re-place when you move to anew city.”

Vaugier born in Van-couver and raised in theKerrisdale neighbourhood.She acted in school playswhile attending CroftonHouse and Magee Second-ary and dabbled in model-ling before landing com-mercials and the lead in amade-for-TV movie.

A colleague introducedher to her manager in LosAngeles, and Vaugiermoved there in 1997.

While she loves theshopping, the plentifuldining options and year-round sunshine in theGolden State, the 33-year-old said some of her fond-est memories are of sum-mertime in her home-town, going out to eat withfriends or trekking up toWhistler.“

There is no city morebeautiful than Vancouverwhen it’s not raining andit’s nice and sunny andwarm,” she said. “It’s thebest city in the world.”

She said she’s also fondof the cultural diversitythat has come to exemplifyCanada as a whole and thefact that the country offersa range of rural life andcity life.
