Snapshot - Emmanuelle Vaugier on acting, globetrotting and Rodney Dangerfield
Vancouver Lifestyles, December 2000

We continue our spotlight on Vancouverites who are making us proud. Emmanuelle Vaugier has been in the acting business for about five years and has already made a splash both here and in LA. We spent a few minutes with the local actress talking about working with Rodney Dangerfiled, her upcoming film releases and living the life of an actor.

You played one of Rodney's wives in the film 5 Wives. What was it like working with legendary comedian?

He was great, very kind and the set was very relaxed. it was a nice change of pace from what I've been doing over the last little while.

Tell us about your latest project, the film Ripper.

The movie is about students mysteriously dropping like flies shortly after starting a class studying serial killers. I liked my character because it wasn't cast stereotypically. Their personality and presence were allowed to develop and it wasn't based on the character's appearance.

Your parents are both from France. How much enjoyment did you get shooting a movie in Paris this past year?

It was great to see family that I hadn't seen since I was little. The actual shooting was like a paid vacation in one of the most wonderful cities in the world.

How tough is it commuting back and forth between here and LA?

I don't really look at it that way. I have a home in LA and I also keep a place here. I enjoy both places and just go where the work is. I've been very lucky in that regard.

What's next for you?

My boyfriend and I are going to Australia for New Years. Then I start a movie called 40 Days and 40 Nights.
